Vedvyas

Vedvyas is a sacred place, located nine kilometers from Rourkela, on the confluence of the rivers Saraswati, Shankha and Koel. According to a local legend, it is the birthplace of Veda Vyasa, the author of epic, Mahabharata. One can distinguish each of the three rivers at the confluence by the three different colors of the water-streams. There are three temples on the confluence. The main attraction of this place is Vyas Cave - the place where the sage was born - on an island in the middle of river Shankha. Pilgrims can reach this cave on a boat. Vedvyas is easily accessible from Rourkela.
