Taptapani

Taptapani is a bubbling hot sulphur spring located about 50 km form Berhampur in Ganjam District. It is surrounded by hills inhabited by the Orissan tribal.

The sulphur present in the water is said to cure skin ailments such as scabies and eczema. The water, extremely-hot near the origin (900 to 1000 F), is canalized into a pond where people take their dip.

The Orissa Tourism Development Corporation has pipelines to transport the water from the spring to Panthanivas, which is then available inside the bathroom.

A huge boulder projecting in the spring is worshipped by the tribal as Goddess Kandhuni. Sri Nilakantheswar Temple, the deer park and the Tibetan settlement are the other places worth visiting.

Taptapani is on the state highway that connects Berhampur with Western Orissa. Berhampur Railway Station is the nearest major railway station.
