Sunabeda




Situated 20 km from Koraput, Sunabeda is a modern township nestled among the lush valleys of the Koraput region. The establishment of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's MIG fighter plane factory speaks of the modernization process of this place. The area is the source of the rivers Jonk and Sunar. The highest points are 3056 ft high Birbusi and 3235 ft high Kotpadar. The local inhabitants worship the goddess Sunadei, the presiding deity of the Sunabeda plateau. Shri Ram Temple, situated in a village between Koraput and Sunabeda by the side of National Highway 43, is an additional attraction of this place. This temple is widely known for its highest kneeling Hanuman statue in Orissa. Nearest airport is at Visakhapatnam. Koraput Railway Station serves Sunabeda.
