The erstwhile princely state, Khandapara, is a small township situated about 60 miles west of Bhubaneswar, surrounded by hills and jungles. The town is famous for the sacred shrines dedicated to
Lord Jagannath and Lord Tota Hanuman. The temple of Lord Jagannath is very ancient and is believed to be sacred for the pilgrims of nearby areas. The temple of Lord Tota Hanuman set in a serene atmosphere of Khali Sahi and the adjoining areas are also revered.
Khandapara, the subdivision of Nayagarh, is famous for its exquisite handicrafts of distinctive styles. The brass and bell metalware items, utensils, wooden masks, toys and other decorative pieces of this place are in great demand in India and other countries.
Nayagarh-Khandapara Road links Khandapara with Nayagarh town. The nearest railhead and airport are at Bhubaneswar, which is around 87 km from Nayagarh.
