Chandrabhaga Mela

Chandrabhaga Mela is a seven day fair which starts on the bright fortnight in the lunar month of Magha (January-February). It is celebrated at the mouth of the sacred Chandrabhaga River, near the famous Konark Sun Temple. This sacred site figures in the epic of Mahabharata and is believed that whoever takes a bath in the Chandrabhaga will be cured of leprosy and bareness. Thousands of people throng this place during the event.
