Berhampur



Berhampur, situated on the National Highway 5, is a major commercial town of Ganjam District and is just 14 km off the coast of Bay of Bengal. It forms the gateway to the bewitching southern zone of Orissa. Berhampur is 119 km to the south-west of Puri.

Berhampur is a major trade center for rice, sugarcane and other agricultural products in the district. The town is also renowned for its silk sarees and handicrafts. The brass work of Ganjam, coir mats of Gopalpur and the exquisite horn work of Paralakhemundi can be procured from various shops in the town.

Gopalpur-on-sea (16 km), Aryapalli (30 km), Taptapani, Jaugada (35 km) and Mahendragiri constitute enchanting excursions.

Nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar (175 km). Berhampur Railway Station is on the Bhubaneswar-Vizianagaram line.
