Choudwar

Choudwar, the erstwhile capital of the Somakuli Keshari Kings of Orissa, is about 20 km from Cuttack. The place is famous for the eight prominent Shiva pithas, now in ruins, established by the Keshari dynasty. In the great Indian epic of Mahabharata, Choudwar was the capital of Virat, and the Pandavas along with their wife Draupadi took refuge here during their exile. Choudwar, a growing industrial area in Cuttack, is well connected with the city center by road. By boat, Choudwar is only 5 km from Cuttack.
