Belkhandi




Belkhandi is situated on the confluence of the rivers Tel and Uttei, two tributaries of the Mahanadi in Kalahandi district of Orissa, 67 km from Bhawanipatna. Belkhandi is a place of great religious and archaeological importance. Recently, ruins of some 12th century monuments have been excavated and the most important among them are the images of Sapta Matruka (Seven Mother Goddesses) and Uma Maheswar. The ruins are preserved in a small museum adjacent to the temple premises. It an ideal site for picnics.
