Balakati




Balakati is a village of artisans who still follow the age-old method of metallurgy. They produce exquisite pieces of art and artifacts in bell metal. The decorative pieces of antique-type consisting of designs of floral patterns, bird-motifs, figures of fantasy, salvers and lamps are popular throughout India. Utensils of brass and copper, both ornamental and functional, are produced in this village. Balakati is 12 km from Bhubaneswar, which is easily accessible from any part of India by road, rail and air.
