Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days of the Vedic Calendar. It falls in the third day (Tritiya) of the new moon month of Vaisakha (April-May). According to the Puranas, this day marks the beginning of the Treta Yuga. It is believed that Lord Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on this day.

The word ‘Akshaya’ literally means ‘which never diminishes’. Akshaya Tritiya is regarded auspicious for starting new ventures and making new purchases. All over India, people celebrate weddings, start new business ventures and making new purchases on this day.

Many religious festivals such as Gudi Padav, Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya Festival and Chandan Yatra fall on this day.
