Vairengte is in the Kolasib District of Mizoram, about 130 km from the state capital Aizawl. This north-eastern town of the state is renowned for the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS), which outweighs the prowess of the Indian Army. Armies from US, Britain, France, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Vietnam use the advantage of this school. Accommodations can be made at Vairengte Government Tourist Lodge and Traveller's Inn.
