India is a confluence of many races and tribes. Majority of the population is made up of the Aryans and the Dravidians. The Mongolians form a small part of the remaining population. The people belonging to this race mostly inhabit parts of eastern and north-eastern India.

The tribes found in north-eastern region of India basically belong to this race. They are characterized by their relatively short heads, broad faces, wide snub noses, very low nose bridges, high projecting cheekbones and small slant eyes.
