Nongstoin




Headquarters of West Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya, Nongstoin is 93 km west of Shillong. It is an industrial hub of the state.

A unique stone, which has natural embroidery color, is found in Nongstoin and articles made of the stone is one of the special crafts of the place. The first sawmill of the state was established here and Nongstoin was the capital of log works but it was later banned by the Supreme Court.

Nongkhnum Island, the biggest River Island in Meghalaya, is around 14 km from Nongstoin.

Nearest airport and railway station are at Guwahati. There are regular bus services from Shillong to Nongstoin.
