Khandong Reservoir




Khandong Reservoir is located near Garampani in Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya. Built across the river Kopili, this reservoir is at an elevation of 719 m above mean sea level. This concrete dam with a height of 66 m receives drainage from an extensive catchment area of 1,256 sq km, comprising thickly wooded forests. The maximum storage capacity of the dam is 16.6 million cubic meters.

Kopili Hydro Electric Project utilizes water from Khandong Reservoir through a 481 m long water conductor system. Lale Falls is a nearby attraction.

By road, Khandong Reservoir can be reached on the Lanka–Garampani road. The nearest railhead is Lanka Railway Station.
