Ukhrul District




Ukhrul District is the highest hill station in Manipur and is the land of colourful tribe Tangkhul Nagas. It is bounded by Myanmar in the east, Chandel District in the south, Imphal East and Senapati districts in the west and the state of Nagaland in the north. It has an area of 4,544 sq km. Ukhrul is the birthplace of Christianity and western education in Manipur. The climate is of temperate nature. Rearing of animals, making handloom materials, pottery products, wood and bamboo craft works contribute the livelihood of the people.

Shirui Kashung (Shiroi Peak), Khankhui Cave, Hundung Mangva Cave, Dilily Water Fall near Khayang Phungtha and Azoa Jenephiu Magi Lake near Kachouphung are some of the tourist spots.
