Thoubal District




Thoubal District occupies the bigger portion of the eastern half of the Manipur Valley, and has an area of 514 sq km. It is bounded by Imphal East and Imphal West districts in the north, Ukhrul and Chandel districts in the east, Chandel and Churachandpur districts in the south and Bishnupur District in the west. The Imphal and the Thoubal are the important rivers running through Thoubal District. The most important source of livelihood for the people is agriculture. Another major occupation is fishing.

Dol Jatra is the main festival of Thoubal. Janmashtami, Durga Puja, Ningol Chakouba and Manipuri New Year day are the other festivals. Important tourist places are Khongjom, Sugnu, Waithou, Kakching and Pallel.
