Lamkang Tribe




Lamkang or Lamgang Tribe is a group that divided from the Anal Tribe of Manipur and inhabits most of the southern districts of the state. They call themselves, the Kasen. The tribe is abundant in Chakpikarong, Kakching Khunou and scattered in 24 other villages. Compared to Moyon, Monsang and other tribes, they are educationally backward. They speak Meiteilon while talking to others. Lamgang dialect is similar to Anal, Moyon and Monsang dialects.
