Bishnupur District

Land of the Dancing Deer



Bishnupur District of Manipur covers an area of 530 sq km and is bounded by Imphal West District in the north, Churachandpur District in the south and Thoubal District in the east.

The great conical temple of Lord Vishnu, built in 1467 during the reign of King Kyamba, is situated in Bishnupur. The district is also well known for its stoneware production. Other major tourist attractions are Keibul Lamjao National Park, Loktak Lake and Loukoipat Ecological Park.
