Akola




Akola city, the administrative headquarters of Akola District, is situated on the banks of the Morna River, in north central Maharashtra. It is a bustling commercial center as well as the hub of cotton trade in the state. Akola is also an important educational region in the district.

Major attraction in the city is the famous Rajeshwar temple.

Akola is well connected to other parts of the state by the National Highway 6. Regular buses connect this place with Mumbai (611 km), Nagpur (250 km) and Pune (468 km).

It is also a prominent rail junction on the Mumbai - Howrah and Jaipur - Purna railway lines. Nearest airport is Sonegaon Airport at Nagpur.
