Vile Parle, a western suburb of Mumbai, is situated between Santa Cruz and Andheri. It is divided as Vile Parle (E) and Vile Parle (W) and is bounded by
Juhu in the west and Sahar in the east. The name of the town is derived from the names of the villages - Idlai and Padlai.
Vile Parle Flying Club in Juhu and Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple (ISKCON) are main attraction. Parle Tilak Vidyalaya, founded in 1921 to memorize Shri Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Lokmanya Seva Sangh (Tilak Mandir), founded in 1924, are also worth to mention. The entertainment center Natyapremi Mandal holds Marathi historical and social dramas on stage. There are three drama theaters, Deenanath Natyagruha, Bhaidas Hall and Prithvi theater, which perform Marathi, Hindi and Gujarathi plays. Musical programs are conducted regularly by Vile Parle Music Circle.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is around 7 km east. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is around 20 km south.
Vile Parle Railway station is on the Santa Cruz-Andheri line of Mumbai Suburban Railways.
