Shivthar Ghal

Shivthar Ghal is a charming locale situated in the Western Ghats, in Raigad District, Maharashtra. This small place, situated north of Varandha Ghat, offers magnificent views of lush green trees, mountains, high waterfalls and meandering rivulets. It is an ideal place where one can enjoy the calm and quite nature away from the hustle and bustle of daily life chores.

Shivthar Ghal was the sacred abode of Saint Ramdas, the Guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Sundar Math, the hall where the saint used to pray, sit and write, is situated here. It was here the saint penned his famous manuscript, Dasbodh.

Shivthar Ghal can be divided in three parts. One of which, situated at the foot of Varandha Ghat, has statues of Saint Ramdas.

Shivthar Ghal is now maintained by Shri Samarth Seva Mandal and Sundarmath Seva Samiti.
