Shaniwar Wada

Shaniwar Wada, located in Pune District, was constructed in 1730 by Bajiroa of Martha Dynasty. It was the palace of the great Peshwa rulers and it symbolizes Pune's culture. The palace was scalded down in a major fire in 1827, but the enormous walls remain.

The influence of Mughal design and the hallmark of the Maratha artistry comes to fore at Shaniwar Wada. The twenty-one feet tall main door, Delhi Darwaza is what remains of this once glorious palace.

The palace is open on all days from 08:00 hrs to 18:30 hrs.

Shaniwar Wada Light and Sound Show presented by Pune Municipal Corporation is an added attraction at Shaniwar Wada.

There are two shows: the Marathi show is from 19:15 hrs to 20:10 hrs and the English Show is from 20:15 hrs to 21:10 hrs. There are no shows on Tuesday. Ticket rate is Rs 25.
