Gadag




Gadag is the administrative headquarters of Gadag District, in Karnataka. In ancient times, it was a renowned seat of learning in the state. Gadag is situated 480 km north-west of Bangalore.

Places of tourist interest include the Viranarayana temple, Parshwanatha temple, Betigeri (7 km) and Shirhetti. An excursion to Lakkundi, Annigeri, Bankapura and Ranibennur will be an exciting option.

Nearest airport is at Hubli. Gadag Junction Railway Station is linked with Koppal, Bellary, Sholapur, Hubli, Dharwad, Bangalore and Davangere. National Highway 63 passes through Gadag. Regular buses are available to Bagalkot, Raichur, Bangalore, Tumkur and Shimoga.
