Nataraja

Lord of the Dance or the Divine Cosmic Dancer

Lord Nataraja is the dancing form of Lord Shiva. This role of Lord Shiva represents the king of dancers. His dance controls the rhythm of life and the cosmic cycle of destruction and regeneration. His four arms symbolize the four cardinal directions and the uplifted left foot signifies release and salvation. The cosmic dance is called 'Anandatandava,' meaning the Dance of Bliss.
