Mithi River




Mithi River is 14 km long, which originates from the valley near the Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Powai and meets the Arabian sea at Mahim Creek, flowing through residential and industrial complexes of Powai, Saki Naka, Kurla and Mahim over a distance of about 15 km and flows to Mahul via Powai. Mahim bay area is a nominated bird sanctuary called Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, where migratory birds come for nesting. Many rare species of birds have been spotted on the banks of the river. There is a dam constructed across this river along the upstream side of Vihar Lake.
