Nasik




The city of Nasik, situated on the Godavari River, is one of the most sacred places of the Hindus. This ancient city in Maharashtra holds a number of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain temples. Nasik, referred to as Rambhumi, is associated with a number of stories from the epic Ramayana. The famous and historic Kumbh Mela, held once in every 12 years, is celebrated there.

Some of the best quality grapes are grown in Nasik. The city has great mythological, historical, social and cultural significance. There are also a number of sacred caves. Sita Gupha and Trimbakeshwar are the other major attractions of the city.

Nasik is 200 km from Mumbai. The nearest airport is at Nasik, 39 km from the city center and the nearest railhead is on the Nasik Road. It is well connected by roads and the State Transport buses ply between the surrounding major places.
