Gondi Language




Gondi is one of the Dravidian languages spoken both in the northern and southern parts of India. Included in the category of Central Dravidian group, this language has no written literature. Gondi has native speakers in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The Gond Tribe is the principal user of this language. The language spoken by the Dhurwas is considered a variation of Gondi. Among the South Indian languages, Gondi is closest to Telugu. Gondi is written in Devanagari. Gondi has influenced the dialects of Oriya and Halbi languages.
