Bhimashankar is a hilly area located in the village of Bhavagiri, 50 km north-west of Khed, near Khandas Village. It lies at a height of 3250 feet from the mean sea level in the ghat region of the Sahyadri
hills. The river Bhima originates from here. This place is noted for a major temple of Lord Shiva
, called Bhimashankar Temple

Bhimashankar is located around 110 km from Pune. Even though arduous, this summit can also be reached by going through the Ganesh Ghat or Shidi Ghat.
