Bawangaja




Bawangaja, also known as Chool Giri, is a famous Jain pilgrimage centre in Barwani District of Madhya Pradesh. It is about 6 km from Barwani.

According to the legend, the famous Jain saints Kumbhakarna and Indrajeet attained Nirvana from here.

The place, which heralds archeological importance, has eleven temples, dating back to the 15th century, situated on a hill. The world's tallest statue of Lord Adinath is a major attraction here.

Nearby excursions include Rajpur and the Veereshwar Mahadev and Nagari Mata temples at Anjad.

Devi Ahilya Bai Holeker Airport is the nearest airport. Khandwa Junction Railway Station is a major railhead nearby.
