Pachmarhi Sanctuary




Pachmarhi Sanctuary is situated at Pachmarhi in Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh. This sanctuary, established in 1977, is spread over an area of 462 sq km. Pachmarhi Sanctuary forms the northeastern part of Satpura National Park.

Pachmarhi Sanctuary houses a large variety of flora and fauna. Bija, tinsa, dhaora, sal, haldu, palash, kasai, bel and bamboo are some of the floras in the sanctuary.

This tranquil sanctuary is the habitat of tiger, panther, sambhar, chital, bhedki, (barking deer), blue bull, four horned antelope, chinkara, bison, wild boar and wild dog.

Accommodation facilities are available at the forest rest house and hotels at Pachmarhi. Visitors are advised to visit this sanctuary from November to June.

Bhopal Airport and Itarsi Junction Railway Station are the nearest major access points.
