Ujjain Observatory

Ved Shala

Ujjain has been the base of calculations for Hindu astronomers and astrologers and hence the city was dubbed as the ‘Greenwich’ of Hindu astronomers and astrologers. The 17th century observatory located here confirms this fascination for planets and stars.

Built by Raja Jai Singh II, it houses a planetarium and a telescope and is a favorite haunt for stargazers and curious public.
