Picchore




Picchore is a taluk headquarters town in the Shivpuri District of Madhya Pradesh. It is around 78 km from Shivpuri, the administrative headquarters of Shivpuri District. Picchore was known as Champa Nagari in its olden days and was destroyed in AD 1313 during a severe battle between the Tomar and Rajput kings. There is a fort which was built in AD 1675 by the Bundela ruler Rajaveer Vrashabh Dev Singh. Bungalow of Raja Bhoj, the tomb of Veer Jagat Singh and the temple of Ganesh built in 1734 are some of the historical spots nearby. Sakhya Sagar Lake, Madhav National Park and Madhav Vilas Palace are the nearby tourist spots. Gwalior Airport and Shivpuri Railway Station are the nearest airport and railway station respectively.
