Satna




Satna, the administrative headquarters of Satna District, is a historic town situated on the Vindhyan Plateau, in Madhya Pradesh. It is located 277 km north-east of Bhopal. Satna is the transit point to Badhavgarh National Park in the southeast, the famous Khajurao temples to the west and Chitrakoot to the north.

Places of tourist interest include Nagod, Rampur, Amarpatan, the archaeological site of Bharhut. Maihar, Khajuraho, Rewa (Land of white Tiger), Jabalpur and Panna constitute interesting excursions.

Nearest airport is at Khajuraho (130 km). Satna Railway Station is on the Jabalpur-Karwi line. National Highway 75 passes through Satna.
