Balaghat District




Balaghat lies in the south-eastern part of Madhya Pradesh covering an area of 9,245 sq km with a population of 1.4 million. About 52% is covered with forest. Balaghat is very rich in forest resources. Teak, Sal, Bamboo and Saja are the main trees found.

Of great tourist attraction are the Lanji Fort Temple with its Khajuraho model statues, Nahlesara Dam, and Rampaily Temple. The Wainganga River flows through Balaghat District. The Deo, Son and Chandan are other main rivers. A part of the famous Kanha National Park falls in this district. This park, with a rich variety of flora and fauna, is a place to visit.

The closest airport is at Nagpur.
