Barwani, also known as Badwani or Siddh Nagar, is the administrative seat of
Barwani District in South-Western
Maharashtra. The town is situated near the left bank of the
Narmada River. It was ruled by the Rana Dynasty. Barwani is about 170 km south-east of
Indore.
Known for its old monuments, the place is also famous for Bawangaja, a Jain pilgrimage center, 6 km from the town.
Devi Ahilya Bai Holeker Airport at Indore is the nearest airport. Khandwa Junction Railway Station is a major railhead nearby.
