Shahdol




Shahdol is the administrative headquarters of Shahdol District, in Madhya Pradesh. It is a major agricultural trade center in the district; rice and wheat being the main produce. Shahdol is 592 km east of Bhopal. Major tourist attraction include the Virateshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Sohagpur Vanganga and Amarkantak, a major pilgrim center for the Hindus.

The nearest airport is at Jabalpur (250 km). Shahdol Railway Station is located on the Bilaspur–Katni section of the South Eastern Railways. National Highway 78 passes through Shahdol.
