National Assessment and Accreditation Council




National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is located in Bangalore. This is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.

Established in 1994, its main purpose is to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. Grade is supplemented to the institutions on the basis of certain criteria such as curricular aspects; teaching-learning and evaluation; research, consultancy and extension; infrastructure and learning resources; student support and progression; organization and management; and healthy practices.

The council functions through its General Council (GC) and Executive Committee (EC). Besides assessing and accrediting institutions, the council undertakes quality-related research studies, consultancy and training program. For such assessment and accreditation, the council collects certain amount as fees.
