Gyaraspur

Gyaraspur is one of the prominent towns in Vidisha District of Madhya Pradesh. It is about 64 km north-east of Bhopal and 51 km north-east of Sanchi, on the Bhopal-Jabalpur route.

The word Gyaraspur (meaning eleven) is derived from a big fair that used to be held here in the 11th month or Gyaras.

Places of tourist interest are Gyaraspur Mahadevi Temple, Shri Gyaraspur Teerth, the ruins of a Stupa, some tanks, and the ruins of an eight pillared temple (Athakhambe) and a four-pillared temple (Chaukhambe).

Vidisha Railway Station is about 35 km away (northeast). Nearest airport is the Bhopal Airport. Regular buses connect Gyaraspur with Bhopal, Jabalpur and Vidisha.
