Jamadagni

Jamadagni was a 'warrior-brahmin' and a descendant of Sage Bhirgu. He was the son of Richika and Satyavati. According to the Mahabharata, Jamadagni was a master of all the Vedas. He married Renuka, daughter of King Presenajit, of the Solar Dynasty. They had five sons, Rumanwat, Sushena, Vasu, Viswavasu and Parashuram. Jamadagni was one of the seven celestial sages or the Saptarshis. Rishi Jamdagni Temple - a shrine dedicated to Jamadagni - is situated near the Yamuna River at Than Village of Uttarkashi District. There's a sacred site at Jaunpur - Jamdagni Ashram - believed to be the hermitage of the sage.
