Dharampur

Dharampur is a small village near Sironj in the Vidisha District of Madhya Pradesh. Located about 90 km away from Vidisha, it is an important archeological site and a major Jain pilgrim center in the state.

The idol of Chandranath, the eighth Tirthankar, is a major point of attraction. The inscription on this huge idol dates back to AD 155. The image is about 2 m high and 1 m broad. Nisaiya, an excavated object related to Jains, is also worth visiting. An old statue of the 24th Jain Tirthankar, Mahavir, was yielded in a broken condition from here.

The nearest airport is Bhopal Airport. Vidisha Railway Station serves Dharampur.
