Fort of Singaurgarh




Singaurgarh is a ruined fort situated on the Satpura hill range, about 6 km from Singrampur in Damoh District. The fort has got much historical importance, since this is an area where a civilization had flourished in older times. It is said that this strong and massive fort was built by King Vane Basore and the Gawe kings ruled over here for a long time. It was also the abode of Gaund king Dalpati Shah who lived here with his queen Durgawati during the 15th century. Nearby lies a lake full of lotus flowers. The fort and its surroundings are an ideal spot for picnicking.

Singaurgarh is about 55 km from Damoh. The nearest airport is the Jabalpur Airport, about 51 km. The nearest railway station is at Damoh.
