Panna




Panna, the only ‘Diamond City’ of India, is the administrative headquarters of Panna District in Madhya Pradesh. The place is famous for its diamond mining industries, which is spread as a belt of 80 km across the district. Panna is 312 km north-east of Bhopal.

Panna, the erstwhile capital of the Bundela kingdom, is dotted with numerous religious monuments, which strikes a blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Excursions to the Ajaygarh Fort (36 km), Panna National Park, Mahamati Prannathji Temple, National Museum, Kalinjar Fort and the diamond mines will be an enchanting experience. The historic town - Khajuraho is situated 40 km north-west of Panna.

The nearest airport is at Khajuraho. Satna Railway Station is the nearest railhead. National Highway 7 passes through Panna. By road, Panna is linked with Mahoba, Jhansi, Damoh and Satna.
