Bhojpur




Bhojpur is located about 28 km south-east of Bhopal along the highway to Hoshangabad, in Madhya Pradesh. Bhojpur, founded by the legendary Parmar King of Dhar, Raja Bhoj (1010-1053), was named after him.

Major point of attraction include the 11th century Bhojpur Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Cyclopean dam. The monolithic Jain temple, situated nearby, is worth visiting. Ashapuri, renowned for the temple of Ashamata, is 6 km north of Bhojpur.

Regular bus connects Bhojpur with Bhopal. Bhopal Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Bhopal Airport is the nearest airport.
