Vilwamangalam Shri Krishna Swamy Temple




Vilwamangalam Shri Krishna Swamy Temple is a beautiful shrine, located near East Fort, at Kottakkakam, in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. This temple enshrines Lord Krishna as the main deity.

Locals believe that this place is the penance land of a great Brahmin saint called Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. He was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna and attained Samadhi at the place where the sanctum sanctorum is situated.

This temple also houses sub shrines for Lord Ganesh and Nagaraja. Shri Krishna Swamy Temple, erected in a circular form, is an outstanding example of the Kerala style of architecture.

The main offerings at this shrine are Tulsi leaf garlands and butter. The Ashtami Rohini Festival celebrated here amidst much pomp and splendor, attracts a large number of people from far and near.

Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station (2 km) and Trivandrum International Airport (7 km) are the nearest railway station and airport.
