Vengathanam Waterfall is located 3 km from Chemmalamattom in
Idukki District. The waterfall cascades down to a depth of 70 ft. The brethtaking view of shimmering water from the hilltop is an enthralling experience. The specialty of the waterfall is that during summer, it converges to one fifth of the actual size but never dries up.
The cool climate and the rubber plantations in the surroundings make this an ideal location for the one day picnickers. Oottupara is an added attraction nearby.
Vengathanam can be approached on Kanjirappally - Erattupetta route. The other route is from Erattupetta via Poonjar. The nearest railway station is at Kottayam and the airport is Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery in Ernakulam.
