Valiyakoyikkal Temple

Valiyakoyikkal Temple, located on the bank of Achankovil River is an Ayyappa shrine modeled on the Sabarimala temple. It is believed to have been constructed by the Raja of Pandalam. Legend says that Lord Ayyappa had his human sojourn as the son of the Raja. Pilgrims usually offer worship here before proceeding to Sabarimala. Three days before the auspicious occasion of Makaravilakku, the sacred ornaments for Lord Ayyappa are taken in procession from Pandalam to Sabarimala.
