Urpazhachivaku Temple




Urpazhachivaku Temple, situated at Edakkad in Kannur, is dedicated to Sankaranarayana. The temple also houses the idols of Bhagavati and Vettakorumakan. The temple has intricate wood carvings with beautiful scenes from the Ramayana and the Krishnaleela. The main festival is celebrated during the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March). The striking feature of this temple is the daily performance of Vellattam, a traditional dance form.

Edakkad, located between Kannur and Thalassery, is accessible by road from other towns and cities in the state. Calicut Airport and Kannur Railway Station offers air and rail services to all major cities. Regular bus services and taxis are available from Kannur and Thalassery to Edakkad.
