Tiruvamundur Temple




The Tiruvamundur temple located 6 km north of Chengannur, in Kerala. It is dedicated to Lord Kamalanathan (Vishnu). This temple has a characteristic circular roof. Much of the present structure dates back to the 14th century.

According to legends, the temple was built by Nakula, the Pandava prince depicted in the Indian epic Mahabharata. Sage Narada is believed to have been blessed here with the duty of preaching the truth to humanity. Lord Vishnu is believed to have created a text describing the rules to be followed for worshipping him, at this shrine.
