Thali Meals

Thali is a traditional style of meal served in India. The name derives from the type of plate it is served on. A thali consists of different dishes served in small bowls called katoris on a round metal tray, or on a banana leaf. It is a healthy way of eating because it ensures a balanced intake of all vitamins, proteins, minerals and carbohydrates. Traditional thali meal contains chappati or puris, chutneys, pickles, steamed rice, cooked pulses and legumes, curries, raita, lassi, papads and spiced stir-fried nuts.
