Eruthavoor Shri Balasubramanya Swamy Temple




Eruthavoor Shri Balasubramanya Swamy Temple is an ancient shrine situated at Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram District. The temple situated on the top of Eruthavoor Hill enshrines Lord Muruga, in the infant form, as the presiding deity.

Separate shrines are earmarked for Lord Ganesh, Nagaraja and Nagakanya. Devotees must take a flight of 242 stairs to reach this holy temple. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent glimpses of the sunset and expanses of green by standing on the hill.

Kavadi, Urul Nercha (rolling on the ground) and Muzhukappu are the main offerings at the temple. The annual festival organized in January is celebrated with gaiety and fanfare by the devotees.

This temple lies 15 km south of Thiruvananthapuram and is on the Balaramapuram-Kattakada Road. Regular buses are available from Thiruvananthapuram and Neyyattinkara.
